The Hall of Waters was once a place where you got treatments but now is where you get the famous Baden-Baden mineral water (for free) at its source. The photo above is the mural above the door as you enter the Hall of Waters.  Photo The entire building is the Friedrichsbad, built in 1877.  The modern facility is a few minutes walk to the right of this building.  The ancient Roman spa/bath ruins are next to this building.  Photo
This is the entrance to the Friedrichsbad facility.  You pay downstairs and then proceed to the second floor to the changing rooms. The Friedrichsbad facility does not allow the use of bathing suits, nude bathing only. A Day at the Friedrichsbad - 17 stages to well-being

Shower, warmth, heat, shower, scrubbing, shower, steam, hot steam, water, bubbles, floating, shower, cold, rubbing, moisturizing, relaxing. Simply wonderful.

In the Friedrichsbad you follow 17 steps to better health and well-being, all working in harmony for the best possible results.

At first, your body temperature rises slowly in the warm and hot air up to stage number 8. Then the water in the following pool gets bit by bit cooler and so the body temperature adjusts and goes back down softly. This pleasant form of bathing gets your circulation going, strengthens your immune system, is wonderful for the skin and relaxes.

Dive into a different time and enjoy a new feeling of well-being.

Traditionally men and women bathe separately in the Friedrichsbad. On the separate bathing days men and women meet in the fascinating domed hall of the Friedrichsbad (stages 10-11). On mixed bathing days, men and women use stages 7 to 11 together. On Sundays men and women can use all of the
17 stages together.

Shower - Stages 1,4,6 & 12

Your bathing experience in the historic Friedrichsbad begins with a refreshing shower. Pure thermal water pours down on you from huge shower heads, massages you and washes the stress of everyday life away. A pleasant sensation spreads out in your body. Afterwards a wonderful warm cloth awaits you in which you can wrap yourself up to get to the next stage. Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 5 minutes Photo

Warm-air bath - Stage 2

Make yourself comfortable on one of our wooden loungers in the warm-air bath. The temperature of 54°C is very pleasant. Chat quietly, dream for a while and drift into another world surrounded by magnificent painted tiles. Slowly your body temperature starts to rise and you enjoy a feeling of relaxation. Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 15 minutes  Photo

Hot-air bath - Stage 3

Once again beautiful hand-painted tiles with their exotic pictures await you. You can let your thoughts wander and enjoy the relaxing 68°C. Your body temperature keeps rising and you start to sweat. Feel the warmth on your skin and use your linen cloth to wipe away the first drops of perspiration on your forehead. Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 5 minutes Photo

Soap and brush massage - Stage 5 (after shower Stage 4)

The soap and brush massage is a particular highlight of the Friedrichsbad. It’s optional and can be booked in addition to the bathing experience. For eight minutes strong hands move over your entire body. Water and soap is spread evenly and afterwards you are massaged with a brush. This acts like a peeling and is the ideal preparation for the following bath in the healing thermal water. The massage enhances the circulation of your skin – a fountain of youth for your body. Thermal steam baths Stages 7 & 8 (after shower Stage 6)

After another shower you walk over to the first thermal steam bath. Feel the pleasant sensation of warm vapor on your skin. Take a seat on one of the warm steps and let yourself be wrapped up in the steam of the healthy thermal water. After approximately ten minutes in 45°C, wander over to the next steam bath or go a few steps up where it is slightly hotter. Your body temperature rises slowly again, without to much strain on your cardio-vascular system. You will feel as light as air and full of vitality. Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 10 minutes in 45°C and app. 5 minutes in 48°C. Photo

Thermal Warmer Pool - Stage 9

Before you slip into the shimmering turquoise waters of the 36°C warm thermal full bath, enjoy once again a relaxing shower. Then your mind can finally get away from everyday life and your thoughts can drift off while you float in the warm water. In the quiet atmosphere and in the healthy thermal water you can breathe freely and feel how your body releases all the tensions. Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 10 minutes  Photo (Note: The thermal pool is the pool next to the circular pool that can be seen in the photo. This is a rectangular pool, and it is the pool with the warmest water.)

Thermal Warm Pool with hydro-jets - Stage 10

After the thermal full bath you now get to the thermal whirlpool bath (34°C). Warm and gentle jets of fresh thermal water massage your back. The last tensions are released and an incomparable feeling of well-being spreads out in your body. Softly and slowly your body temperature goes down. You will hardly recognize the two degrees difference between the thermal full bath and the thermal whirlpool bath. - Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 15 minutes Photo

Cool Pool under the Dome - Stage 11

Then give the circular pool a try for a few minutes. After the 34°C warm thermal whirlpool bath this pool with its 28°C seems quite cool. Swim for a few rounds and you will adjust to the temperature. It’s worth it! A 17 meters high dome gives this bathing hall a very special flair. You will be enchanted by the unique atmosphere and you can once more enjoy the power of the healing thermal water.  Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 5 minutes  Photo View of Dome above the pool Photo View of pool from top of dome Photo

Cold-water bath - Stage 13 (after shower Stage 12)

After a shower take a plunge in the coolness of the cold-water bath and feel the tingling effects on your skin. The cool water of 18°C gets your circulation going. Relaxed and refreshed you walk over to the drying off area.

Drying off - Stage 14

Is there something better than being wrapped in a warm cloth after a cold bath? Enjoy this special feeling. Take your time when you dry yourself off – time which you don’t grant yourself in everyday life. Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 4 minutes

Application of moisturizing cream - Stage 15

The moisturizing creams on offer were specifically developed for the Friedrichsbad. Choose your favorite fragrance and spread the cream generously over your entire body. The caring ingredients protect your skin from drying out after the various water therapies and let it become smooth and velvety-soft. Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 8 minutes

Relaxation & Resting Room - Stage 16

In the relaxation room a different way of recuperation awaits you: wrapped up in a warm blanket, you close your eyes and let your thoughts drift away.  Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 30 minutes. Photo

Reading Room - Stage 17

In the reading room you lean back in a comfortable recliner and relax while reading an interesting magazine. You can choose from a large variety. Our recommendation for your length of stay: app. 30 minutes

Natural Thermal Hot Springs Water

Thermal water is rarely as pure as it is in Baden-Baden. It flows from 12 springs, reaching temperatures of up to 68°C, unfolding its famous soothing effect on the body and soul. Experience for yourself how its uniquely well-balanced mineral content pampers the body: your whole organism is gently activated and you succumb to an incomparable feeling of relaxation.

The Romans discovered the special healing effects of this thermal spring water 2000 years ago. With Emperor Caracalla, spa culture in Baden-Baden began to thrive. A culture and tradition we preserve for you each day
