A Day at the Cassiopeia After several hours inside
the Cassiopeia, experiencing what it must have been like in the ancient
Roman Bath at this site, you go a few feet outside to tour the
archeological ruins of the original Roman Bath. This is truly a remarkable
way to study one of the most famous historical traditions of hydrotherapy.
All you need to do is fly to Frankfurt, rent a car, drive 3 hours to
Baden-Baden. After spending the day there, drive 2 more hours south to the
Cassiopeia in Badenweiler.
Entrance to the Cassiopeia where you pay and enter the facility |
Main thermal pool which is for everyone and bath suits are required. |
The following photos are from the special section of the Cassiopeia that is recreation of the Roman Bath that was once at this same location. You pay an extra fee to use this section and this is a non-bathing suit area. Similar to the Friedrichsbad in Baden-Baden, you go through a series of stages modeled after the Roman Baths, beginning with heating in a dry hot room.. |
Then you heat more in another hotter dry room. |
Next you heat more in a steam room. |
Next you shower, and then enter a cold plunge bath for a few seconds (no photo). Next you shower and then enter this pool with warm mineral water. |
Next, you get the traditional brush & soap massage for about 10 minutes. |
Next, you walk around with your towel looking relaxed and beautiful. Just kidding, but you do feel relaxed and beautiful. |
This is a larger pool in the Roman Bath area. |
